"Narrative artwork" or "sequential pictorial images", comics are a special form of storytelling that involve pictures and (often) words.
I have a particular love for the comics style. It takes the best elements of text stories and video and puts them together in a spectacular way.
*Warning Trivia Alert*
Many cultures and peoples have discovered the power of comics.
The Bayeux Tapestry is a comic!
There are cave paintings, Egyptian hieroglyph walls and ancient American carvings that are also comics. Amazing, huh?
Nowadays the three main versions you will find are:
Newspaper (and Web) Comic Strips,

the Comics of Western Culture,

and the Manga, Manhwa and Manhua styles of Japan, Korea and China.

You can find many genres in comics.
Bet you thought of

first though, didn't you?!
Personally I'm very fond of sci-fi, fantasy, MMORPG humour, novel adaptations,
and a whole bevy of kids' comics.
You may prefer something a little more horror, thriller, bad-ass action, romance....
and as you can probably tell by now I could go on!

A lot of different names are used to describe comics, here is a quick glossary of our terminology to help you as you browse our comics pages:
Comic = floppy paperback book bound with staples
Trade Paperback (also known as TPB or Graphic Novel) = thicker book, bound with a glued spine or in hardback. Often a collection of a storyline previously printed as a comic.
Manga = any manga style comic, usually bound as a digest, (we currently stock English language translations). They may read from left to right or the traditional right to left depending on the book.
Digest = trade paperbacks in a smaller format. You could almost call them pocket-sized, but they're not THAT small!
