DC Comics has been around in some form since 1935, bringing us iconic characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash, to name only a very few.

Vertigo (specifically for mature readers) The Vertigo following is huge. If you prefer stories with less restraint, these could well be for you.
 
and Wildstorm (a sneaky defector from Marvel and Image)
